Today I'm honoring one of my spiritual fathers , Buddhist monk Thích Nhất Hạnh, who died in January 2022. He was a peace activist, prolific author, poet, and teacher, who founded the Plum Village Tradition, and is recognized as the main inspiration for engaged Buddhism. Known as the "father of mindfulness" his words have held me through so much healing. Spiritual mothers and fathers can come from almost anywhere, not just proximity, and if you come from toxic or inadequate parents like me, this matters. We've been conditioned to avoid all suffering, to demand safe spaces externally, but the only real safety is what you cultivate inside yourself with your own inner child. Remember that breathing is the bridge between mind and body - just being is your birthright. Light and love, and I hope you enjoy this throwback episode and the lesson in it.
